Brandon Stanton
Brandon Stanton is the photographer behind the popular online photo series, Humans of New York (HONY), that has mesmerized social media users. Brandon's story is an interesting one of how a risk to pursue one's passion has turned into a world wide success:
"Hey there. I’m Brandon. I get really passionate about things. At some time in my life, I’ve been obsessed or borderline-obsessed with saltwater aquariums, the baritone euphonium, reading, piano, filming, financial markets, New York City, and photography. I studied History at the University of Georgia. During my senior year of college, I took out $3,000 in student loans and bet it on Barack Obama to win the presidency. A friend heard about this bet and got me a job trading bonds on the Chicago Board of Trade. I traded for three years. It went really well for awhile. But then it went really bad. Whoops. After I lost my trading job, I decided to move to New York City and take portraits of strangers on the street. Mom wasn’t too happy about that decision, but so far it’s gone pretty well. I’ve taken nearly 5,000 portraits and written 50 stories. And I’ve met some amazing people along the way."
HONY which had started off as an online project is now becoming a published book, soon to be available in stores.
His facebook page and website are deffinetly worth a visit, not only to see his photos but to also see the stories and quotes paired along with them.

Annie Liebovitz
The Connecticut born photographer, know for her trade mark use of bold colours and poses, has made a name for herself as one of America's best portrait photographers. Beginning her career as a photographer for Rolling Stone magazine she has gone on expanding her portfolio and resume, creating not only iconic covers for Rolling Stone but other well known magazines such as Vanity Fair and Vogue. Although her work is iconic as a result of her bold moves, it too has caused controversy. Though photos such as the one of Miley Cyrus looking over her shoulder revealing her bare back may have cause a backlash from the media this hasn't stopped Liebovitz from continuing to create iconic photos.
